Disney Plus launched... so now what?
Updated: Jan 29
In November 2019 Disney released it's own streaming service for a fair price of $6.99 a month. Within its first 24 hours of being live, it attracted 3.2 million downloads which landed it a #1 spot on the App store. That's pretty impressive!
So what does this mean in terms of dollars?
With 3.2 million downloads, that's a little over $22 million a month in subscription revenue just from first day subscribers. Imagine how much more they would make on the people who subscribed a little later after hearing how amazing it is. Now some of these users may have been in it for the 7 day free trial, but based on this number alone, Disney would be able to make back the $500 million it allocated on original content in less than 2 years.
Now the elephant in the room is ... what does this mean for Netflix? Did Netflix take a hit? Did they lose subscribers? Check out our blog How Did the Launch of Disney Plus Affect Netflix? to find out!
